Abu Dhabi Summer Sports sees surge in events and activities during its first month

Abu Dhabi, UAE, 8 August 2022: The Abu Dhabi Summer Sports (ADSS), the biggest event of its kind in the region, has garnered impressive attendance and turnout from people from all walks of life since its launch on July 1st at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre (ADNEC). To keep up with its momentum, more sporting events and activities are being added to the event’s roster.

Held in a venue with a total area of more than 27,000 square meters, ADSS boasts over 25 tracks and courts set up according to the highest standards in a closed, air-conditioned environment to suit the summer conditions. 

The event has also added more sporting activities, including a skateboarding and cycling track featuring exhilarating and fun ramps, which caters to all age groups and experience levels under the supervision of skateboarding experts, providing an ideal destination for those looking for the perfect skateboarding experience.

In Hall 11, an area has been dedicated for chess, providing a series of mental challenges and the opportunity to benefit from well-known game strategies and tactics of several world champions. Visitors to the event can also enjoy several new training activities and sessions, which include yoga and Zumba.

ADSS, which lasts until the end of this month, features more than nine types of sports with two 7-player football fields, three five-player football courts, eight padel tennis courts, and also offers training courses for adults and children. The event space also boasts three basketball courts, three badminton courts, three volleyball courts, one cricket court, a CrossFit track, and a one-km running track. 

Since the event started, these courts and tracks have been witnessing considerable turnouts from the residents of Abu Dhabi, along with the notable presence of local teams who are training at Abu Dhabi Sports Centre. The running track at ADSS has become the primary destination for the running community in the Emirate, with several teams and groups organising a number of exercises at this track, as it provides world-class facilities in closed, air-conditioned spaces.

The event also caters to children with a series of activities such as the InflaFest inflatable toys event, which features many fun inflatable attractions in a safe, enjoyable environment. The event, held in an air-conditioned indoor environment, features many attractions such as large slides, climbing walls, obstacle courses, and games for groups and friends.

Abu Dhabi Summer Sports, organised by Abu Dhabi National Exhibitions Company (ADNEC) in cooperation with Abu Dhabi Sports Council, enjoys extensive support from various government agencies and companies. 

These include its gold sponsors: Abu Dhabi Public Health Centre, which provides a public health system for the residents in Abu Dhabi and ensures worker safety by promoting public health and preventative health; and Drops, an advanced ecommerce platform that features more than 17 retail categories including water and all kinds of food, and seeks to become the number one destination for shopping in GCC countries via its app.

Participants must present a green status on Al Hosn app. Wearing a face mask is mandatory at all times for all visitors of Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre.
